What are AWANA Clubs?
AWANA is an international, Bible-centered children’s and youth ministry that provides churches with weekly clubs, programs and training for students in preschool through high school. The goal is to reach kids, and their families, with the gospel of Christ and train them to serve Him. The AWANA program has been around for over 50 years.
The acronym AWANA comes from the first letters of Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed as taken from 2 Timothy 2:15.
Each AWANA night consists of three main activities
(1) handbook time
(2) game time/snack time
(3) closing program
Handbook time is an opportunity for children to learn various Bible verses. Closing time is for worship, singing songs and a short devotion from the Bible to the children.
What are the ages for AWANA Clubs?
We have clubs for children ages 3 years old through 6th grade.
Is there a fee?
No. The church will cover the costs for the club book and a vest or shirt once your child passes the entrance level.
What does my child need to bring?
A smile and a readiness to have a great time are the only requirements for the first night. After the first night, students are expected to bring their handbooks and wear their club uniforms (the appropriate AWANA vest or shirt).
What are the meeting times?
Our AWANA club meeting begins promptly at 7:00 and ends at 8:30 each Wednesday evening September – June. We follow the area school schedule for holidays and breaks.
Are there activities for the adults?
Yes. Parents and/or guardians are encouraged to be a part of our club night by getting involved or by attending the Catalyst Bible Study and Prayer time which begins at 7:00 pm in the Fellowship Building. This is a sound study of the Word of God led by our Pastor.
Is this a safe place for my child to be?
For 40 years, MBC has been a part of the Gaston community and our members have worked with many area children. Your child will be under direct supervision at all times. They are led to snack, games and assembly by their adult leaders. Each class has two or more adult leaders.
